Despite receiving rave reviews in its first season this past December at the streaming service, Netflix has chosen not to greenlight another outing of Astronomy Club: The Sketch Show, which was executive produced by Emmy nominee Kenya Barris (Black-ish), according to Deadline.
The various sketches were also intermixed with Big Brother-style confessions, in which the cast members are “living together” and talk to the camera.
Alongside the main troupe, which includes Shawtane Bowen, Jonathan Braylock, Ray Cordova, James III, Caroline Martin, Jerah Milligan, Monique Moses and Keisha Zollar, the series featured major guest stars including Ice Cube (The High Note), Busy Philipps (I Feel Pretty) and Gillian Jacobs (Community).
In addition to Barris, the series was executive produced by showrunner Daniel Powell, who is also known for his work on Comedy Central’s Inside Amy Schumer and fellow Netflix sketch series I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson, and Khalabo Ink Society’s Anni Weisband.
