Netflix and writers J. David Stem (Shrek 2) and David N. Weiss (The Smurfs franchise) are planning to adapt a remake of the 1950 Jimmy Stewart dramedy Harvey, Deadline has confirmed.
The original Harvey film is currently streaming on Netflix.
Harvey was originally a Pulitzer Prize-winning play written by Mary Chase before it was adapted into a feature film centering on a man named Elwood P. Dowd who has a maybe-not-so-imaginary 6-foot rabbit named Harvey.
Previously, Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg were in talks to develop a remake under Fox/DreamWorks but the project obviously never came to fruition.
