Police attempted a search for Brooks, but the body wasn’t recovered until a month later when friends and family searched and uncovered Brooks’ body on top of brush and branches in a creek.
Brooks was left behind by his friends and didn’t turn up the next morning.
It’s one step closer to justice after Alonzo Brooks’s case was mishandled by investigators at the time of his disappearance in 2004.
Brooks went missing at a party of around 100 people in a rural area, of which he was one of only three Black men in attendance.
