Warner Bros. has scheduled releases dates for three films: an untitled Conjuring movie, Michael B. Jordan’s Just Mercy, and Melissa McCarthy’s Superintelligence. James Wan’s original Conjuring movie was a horror film (very) loosely based on real events and became a huge critical/financial success for WB in 2013.
It has since unexpectedly given rise to a lucrative shared horror movie universe that will continue to expand this summer, when WB releases The Nun; a spinoff based around The Conjuring 2‘s demonic nun villain.
Currently, the two most likely candidates for that mystery Conjuring film are The Conjuring 3 and The Crooked Man, a spinoff based around the Conjuring 2 villain.
By comparison, Just Mercy is a serious docudrama about a wrongly-convicted young black man, based on Bryan Stevenson’s 2014 memoir Just Mercy: A Story of Justice and Redemption.
