The report from The Hollywood Reporter notes that the series will debut on HBO Max sometime in 2023 and that HBO Max has also acquired all of the U.S. rights to all 14 seasons of Degrassi: The Next Generation, and will begin streaming the series later this year in the spring.
The Degrassi franchise began in 1980 and has had a variety of spin-off series, including Degrassi: The Next Generation, which debuted in 2001 and ran for 14 years and featured some notable stars, including rapper Drake and Nina Dobrev.
The fan-favorite drama series Degrassi is making a return, with WarnerMedia Kids & Family having greenlit a new series based on the original series.
As for the new Degrassi series, Lara Azzopardi (The Bold Type) and Julia Cohen (Riverdale) will serve as showrunners and executive producers for the upcoming series.
