There are no capes, because Luke Cage is a real, modern superhero for Harlem.
Following on from the commercial and critical success of Marvel’s previous Netflix shows (Daredevil and Jessica Jones), and slotting into the timeline nicely, Luke Cage will precede The Defenders, Iron Fist, and The Punisher.
“There are no capes,” Simone Missick says of the upcoming Marvel TV series, Luke Cage. Making its debut on Netflix at the end of September, Luke Cage promises to bring a gritty realness to the superhero genre, as the unbreakable Cage seeks to protect Harlem from Cornell Cottonmouth Stokes. The show’s titular role will be played by Mike Colter, who made his debut as the character in Jessica Jones.
Rosario Dawson also reprises her role as the ever patient and understanding nurse, Claire Temple, after her appearances in Jessica Jones and also both seasons of Daredevil.
