While it makes logistical sense for filming on Supergirl season 2 to take place in the same region as its now-fellow TV series on The CW for that reason alone, the move may indeed allow the series to “go bigger” too, like Kreisberg claims it will.
The show is now aiming to remain true to that cause with its second season on The CW, while at the same time going “bigger” with Kara Danvers/Zor-El’s (Melissa Benoist) next round of super-heroics.
Production on the other three TV shows in the Arrowverse also takes place in Vancouver, as does Supergirl co-creator (and the Arrowverse’s head architect) Greg Berlanti’s newest comic book TV show adaptation on The CW, Riverdale.
According to Supergirl‘s co-creator Andrew Kreisberg though, much of this might not have been possible had the show stayed on CBS and filming in L.A., as it did during its first season.
