It’s been quite some time since moviegoers were first formally introduced to Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow – as well as returning co-star Orlando Bloom as Will Turner – and as such Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales has a sizable cinematic legacy to live up to.
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is on course to open big at the box office, when it arrives in U.S. theaters later this month.
According to THR, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is currently expected to rake in a grand total of over $90 million in ticket sales at the box office over the course of its four-day Memorial Day weekend opening.
The overall fifth Pirates movie comes from the Norwegian filmmaking duo of Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg, with Johnny Depp returning the intrepid Captain Jack Sparrow – a role he first played fourteen years ago, in 2003’s The Curse of the Black Pearl.
