Sam Raimi is producing the film alongside Zainab Azizi via his Raimi Productions banner for their development deal with Starlight Media, who is co-financing the film alongside Raimi Productions and Sony’s Stage 6 Films, with Starlight’s CEO Peter Luo set to executive produce alongside Matt Black, Jeanette Volturno and Marcej Brown of Catchlight Studios and André Øvredal (Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark).
Starlight Media is best known for producing a number of critical and commercial hits including the Chadwick Boseman-starring Marshall, Warner Bros.’
Umma will mark the third film to be produced by the Evil Dead co-creator under the Raimi Productions banner after the 2014 indie comedic thriller Murder of a Cat and last year’s smash monster movie hit Crawl.
