A television series version of David Cronenberg’s iconic film Scanners is in development at HBO, per a recent report from Variety.
Cronenberg is also attached to the project in an executive producer role, which confirms that the legendary director will help with the series.
While the series has not been fully ordered yet, this will mark the second series based on a Cronenberg project, with Amazon set to adapt his film Dead Ringers as well.
Scanners starred Stephen Lack, Jennifer O’Neill, and Patrick McGoohan, and while it wasn’t highly successful following its premiere, the film has gone on to become a cult classic.
