The breakout star from the Reese Witherspoon and Kerry Washington-led series will play the daughter, whose open-minded nature and intelligence pushes her parents to make socially conscious choices, in a recurring role. Underwood’s casting also comes on the heels of Dakota Fanning (The Alienist, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood) joining the cast in the role of Susan Ford, the progressive teenage daughter of President Gerald and First Lady Betty Ford.
The first season will be focusing on Eleanor Roosevelt, Betty Ford and Michelle Obama.
The First Lady will be co-produced by Showtime and Lionsgate TV along with Welle Entertainment (Otherhood), Gaspin Media (LA’s Finest), and JuVee Productions.
The series will peel back the curtain on the personal and political lives of America’s most iconic First Ladies.
