Internationally the film posted another $24.3 million, bringing the film’s global total to $1.96 billion and putting it within striking distance of the elusive $2 billion club (which is currently home to just Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Titanic, and Avatar). Paramount’s comedy Book Club continues to perform well, dipping just 32.5% this weekend and bringing in an additional $6.8 million and bringing its domestic total to $47.3 million.
For comparison, Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Star Wars: The Last Jedi both eclipsed $148 million within their second day of release while Rogue One crossed that threshold after just three days.
Studio estimates have the film’s second weekend gross at $29.3 million, a 65% dip from its first weekend, bringing its domestic total to $148.9 million.
Internationally, the sequel brought in an additional $41.6 million, bringing its international total to $344 million and giving it a global total of $598.7.
