Star Trek: Starfleet Academy Renewed Ahead of Series Premiere; Tatiana Maslany Joins Cast

Starfleet Academy marks the fifth live-action Star Trek series (and seventh Trek series overall) to debut on Paramount+, following Star Trek: Discovery, Star Trek: Short Treks, Star Trek: Picard, Star Trek: Lower Decks, Star Trek: Prodigy and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.
Star Trek: Starfleet Academy has scored an early Season 2 renewal — and a plum cast addition.
Paramount+ announced the pickup on Saturday at New York Comic-Con, where the network also revealed that Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black) will recur in Season 1 of the Star Trek offshoot.
Starfleet Academy, which was ordered to series in March 2023 and is currently in production on Season 1, follows “the adventures of a new class of Starfleet cadets as they come of age in one of the most legendary places in the galaxy,” per the official description.
