For its part, this year’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story appears to be more serious and gritty than any previous Star Wars film that has come before.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story opens in U.S. theaters on December 16, 2016, followed by Star Wars: Episode VIII on December 15, 2017, the Han Solo Star Wars Anthology film on May 25, 2018, Star Wars: Episode IX in 2019, and the third Star Wars Anthology film in 2020.
Back in 2015 i was excited to hear the news about a potential Star Wars Rogue One story being developed, and directed by Gareth Edwards .
Yet while Rogue One will undoubtedly be more tragic than other Star Wars films, it still brings a ray of hope with it for what these plans will end up meaning to Luke Skywalker and his friends in Episode IV.
