Rogue One: A Star Wars Story opens in U.S. theaters on December 16, 2016, followed by Star Wars: Episode VIII on December 15, 2017, the Han Solo Star Wars Anthology film on May 25, 2018, Star Wars: Episode IX in 2019, and the third Star Wars Anthology film in 2020.
One of the biggest upcoming events this December is the first of several Disney and Lucasfilm standalone anthologies, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
Further exciting news came when Lucasfilm announced that Saw Gerrera (played by Forrest Whitaker) would play a sizeable role in Rogue One, making him the first Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series/book crossover.
Bail Organa’s return would also mark the first time a character only seen in the prequel trilogy pops into a post-George Lucas Star Wars film.
