Variety says that Universal Pictures Chairman Donna Langley met with workers at DreamWorks Animation on Thursday to confirm that production of The Croods sequel was being stopped immediately.
DreamWorks Animation and its new parent, Universal Pictures, are not moving forward with The Croods sequel, which was expected to come to theaters in 2018.
The Croods was a hit in 2013 when it earned $587.2 million worldwide on a budget of $135 million.
While The Croods sequel is cancelled, fans can still watch two seasons of DreamWorks Animation’s 2D-animated Dawn of the Croods series on Netflix.
