But in the end, it happened: The merger of Disney and 21st Century Fox is going forward.
Per Variety, shareholders of both companies voted to approve the deal, which will cost Disney in the neighborhood of $71 billion.
The Justice Department has already okay this deal, provided that Disney sells off Fox’s regional sports networks.
Gerson Zweifach, general counsel of 21st Century Fox, told Fox shareholders the merger is expected to be completed in the first half of 2019.
