According to Deadline, Universal Television has acquired Peter Lefcourt’s novel The Dreyfus Affair: A Love Story to develop as a high-end television series with Oscar and Emmy winner David Frankel (The Devil Wears Prada, Entourage, Dear Diary) attached to direct.
The Dreyfus Affair: A Love Story was first published in 1992 by Random House in hardcover before being published as a paperback by Harper Perennial in 1993. Lefcourt’s novel The Deal was previously adapted into a film starring William H. Macy and LL Cool J, and his television writing credits include Desperate Housewives, Cagney & Lacey, and more.
Frankel and Lefcourt will executive produce The Dreyfus Affair.
Dreyfus’ affair creates reverberations for the World Series. In today’s world of sexual identity issues, that make headlines even on sports pages, the storyline is particularly relevant.
