The MCU movies are generally regarded as simply taking place on another Earth (typically referred to as Earth-199999), and the storylines that have taken place on that Earth are not the same as some of the more iconic narratives from the comics — something that’s plain to see in how different Mark Millar’s Civil War arc is from Captain America: Civil War.
However, the reaction to Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie seems to have been overwhelmingly positive, and the folks at Marvel have seen fit to immortalize her in the very books that inspired Thor: Ragnarok.
As mentioned earlier, this is one of those rare instances in which the Marvel Cinematic Universe has directly influenced the direction of the comic book source material.
