Star Wars: The Last Jedi has crossed the $1 billion mark at the worldwide box office, while becoming the #1 movie of 2017 in the U.S. The Last Jedi grossed $220 million its opening weekend, the second-biggest domestic opening of all-time behind only The Force Awakens.
Exhibitor Relations reports that Star Wars: The Last Jedi, the middle chapter of the current trilogy, racked up two more huge box office milestones this weekend.
Despite huge numbers for The Last Jedi, 2017 box office totals overall are down from 2016.
Though many hardcore fans are very down on Star Wars: The Last Jedi, general audiences have embraced it as warmly and eagerly as every other Star Wars movie.
