It was recently announced that ABC’s entertainment president Channing Dungey, who presided over a period that saw American Idol’s return and the Roseanne debacle, has stepped down.
Sadly, those dreams were crushed on Thanksgiving no less, since ABC announced Wednesday evening that the series would not be going forward.
The Middle ended in May after nine seasons but there were hopes of it kinda sorta living on through a spin-off centered around adorkably awkward daughter Sue Heck (Eden Sher) titled Sue in the City, which sounds like the wonderfully goofy series the world needed.
Variety says that the series, which would have Sue moving away from Indiana to pursue a career in Chicago, got axed as ABC shuffled priorities and projects in the midst of big changes.
