“After making Drive and falling madly in love with the electricity of Los Angeles, I knew I had to return to tell the story of The Neon Demon.
“One morning I woke and realised I was both surrounded and dominated by women,” Refn said when he first announced the film.
Described by one as a “getting-eaten-by-LA fantasia”, The Neon Demon centres on a young model played by Elle Fanning trying to make it in Hollywood but getting chewed up and spat out by the system.
