Tessa Thompson is not a fan of how male writers chose to describe female characters in their screenplays.
The common factor amongst these scripts is apparently that male writers tend to use the word ‘badass” when describing their female characters.
It’s a word that Thompson doesn’t believe means anything and it’s just male writers uncreatively finding an alternative to “tough.”
Thompson told the Los Angeles Times that it’s the one word that she hates to read in scripts, especially when it’s followed by the word “sexy.”
