To better prepare for his role as young Tony Soprano in the upcoming Sopranos prequel movie Newark, Michael Gandolfini went back to the place where it all ended: the iconic booth at the Bloomfield, New Jersey, diner Holsten’s that was the setting for The Sopranos’ enigmatic final scene.
In addition to Gandolfini, the cast includes Alessandro Nivola, Jon Bernthal, Vera Farmiga, and Ray Liotta.
In the Sopranos’ finale, “Made in America,” Tony is joined in the booth by his wife Carmela (Edie Falco) and his son A.J. (Robert Iler) for a quiet dinner.
Newark is in production now for a September 2020 release.
