TVLine is reporting that Fox is currently developing an animated comedy spinoff of The X-Files titled The X-Files: Albuquerque, with series creator Chris Carter executive producing.
The live-action sci-fi/mystery series spawned two movies, The X-Files (1998) and The X-Files: I want to Believe (2008), before the Golden Globe and Emmy-winning series returned in 2016 for two seasons.
The X-Files, starring David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson, ran for nine seasons on Fox between 1993-2002.
Bento Box serves as the animation studio for The X-Files: Albuquerque.
