Another interesting part of Tina Fey’s list is that the cast is separated evenly between male and female.
THR reported Fey talked a bit about her experience in her early days as a writer for SNL which prompted her mentioning a few times she found a jar of urine from male writers who didn’t feel like walking to the bathroom.
Fey, who became Saturday Night Live’s first head female writer back in 1999, is a strong advocate for the inclusion of more women in the writers’ room and comedy in general as many shows still have a dominant male presence.
Fey also took David Letterman to task and reminded him his late-night talk show was noted to be one of the worst offenders back in the day when it came to including women in the creative process, which Letterman conceded was true, but that he didn’t know why.
