Tom Hardy is Al Capone in new image from Fonzo! Director Josh Trank has delivered another shot of his upcoming biopic Fonzo starring Tom Hardy as ruthless crime lord Al Capone — and it’s a doozy.
A ruthless businessman and bootlegger who ruled Chicago with an iron fist, Al “Fonzo” Capone (Hardy) was the most infamous and feared gangster of American lore.
Fonzo is written and directed by Josh Trank for A Band Apart, alongside executive producer Jason Cloth of Creative Wealth Media.
A number of actors have portrayed Al Capone over the years, including, Paul Muni (The Shame of a Nation), Rod Steiger (Al Capone), Neville Brand (The Scarface Mob), Jason Robards (The St. Valentine’s Day Massacre), Ben Gazzara (Capone), Stephen Graham (Boardwalk Empire), Anthony LaPaglia (Road to Perdition), and, perhaps most famously, Robert DeNiro in Brian DePalma’s The Untouchables.
