Walker’s attorney Steve Romines told the local TV station WDRB that he received a phone call from Perry on Sunday, after Perry contributed the funds on Go Fund Me.
Sources close to Perry confirmed to Variety that the actor and writer is indeed the person who donated the funds.
“A donation of $100,000 a few mins later convinced me it was in fact him,” Romines added.
On Twitter, Romines shared that he had “received a call this morning from someone claiming to be Tyler Perry who wished to assist Kenny Walker’s defense”.
