By the time the series wound down, Friends had remained popular with audiences everywhere, but the critical reception was mixed.
Whereas Seinfeld proclaimed it was a show about “nothing”, Friends seemed to be about everything by comparison.
Friends never purported itself to be on the bleeding edge of cool, and it didn’t need to be.
