From a thematic standpoint, this fan trailer seriously cuts to the core of Spider-Man: Homecoming, as well as Peter Parker as a character.
It’s hard to see yourself in Tony Stark or Thor, but it’s much easier to identify with a nerdy kid like Peter Parker.
By contrast, Spider-Man: Homecoming represents the first time the MCU has really delved into what it’s like to be a kid in the superhero world — let alone a kid with superpowers.
This John Hughes-esque approach to a comic book movie seemingly allows Homecoming to set itself apart from other properties set within this universe, and finally gives kids in the audience a character that they can truly identify with.
