It does show that both of them were strapped into the cars before they started to watch the footage, which apparently didn’t strike either of them as odd, but maybe should have.
A behind-the-scenes video attached shows the work that went into setting up the entire thing so that the two participants didn’t know what was going on until the cars started moving.
Of course, it appears that these were scenes that the two marks were going to watch before their cars drove through a wall.
