For about 95% of The Departed, it feels like a Leonardo DiCaprio film.
Ultimately, and this is something I realized on my second or third viewing, The Departed is mostly Sullivan’s story.
Every character in The Departed is, to some degree, lying or pretending to be something they’re not; and each suffers as a result.
Is it any wonder that, of all the characters in The Departed, he’s the one left holding the gun in the final shot?
