A contestant has made it to the final question on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?, 14 years after the series last featured a million-pound winner.
Retired doctor Andrew Townsley manages to reach the million-pound question on tonight’s episode of the long-running ITV quiz show (12 May 2020).
Townsley would be just the sixth contestant to best the final question in the series’s history, a fact which host Jeremy Clarkson points out during the episode.
Other contestants to emerge victorious include Pat Gibson in 2004, David Edwards and Robert Brydges in 2001 and Judith Keppel back in 2000.
