As for Gambit, a new director still hasn’t been announced yet, but Channing Tatum is still attached to play Remy LeBeau, who was last seen played by Taylor Kitsch in 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
Doug Liman is the second director to leave Gambit, following behind Rise of the Planet of the Apes’ Rupert Wyatt, who dropped out due to scheduling conflicts.
Léa Seydoux was also cast as Bella Donna Boudreaux in 2015, but with so many delays, it’s unclear whether or not she’s still starring in the blockbuster.
While Liman won’t be contributing to the X-Men franchise, he’s still staying involved with superheroes, as he’s set to direct Justice League Dark for DC Comics and Warner Bros, which will see magical protagonists like John Constantine, Zatanna, Swamp Thing and Deadman banding together.
