By doing this, the film never feels overly bloated with spectacle or action sequences and actually ends up showcasing quite a bit more heart than we’re used to seeing from this genre.
There’s an easy case to be made that keeping that Rangers out of the suits was the right decision for the movie.
Power Rangers does a very good job of fleshing out the arcs of the characters, and the dynamic between the teenage heroes- and much of that has to do with the decreased emphasis on action.
Sure, it’s not quite as thrilling as the average comic book movie for most of its runtime, but it definitely allows us to develop stronger connections to these young heroes as the story progresses.
