Widows had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, arriving to acclaim reviews from critics, who praised its ability to lace genre thrills with deeper, more socially-conscious themes.
Steve McQueen may be best known for his uncompromising social-realism, but the British director’s latest film, Widows, tackles a more fantastical subject.
To do so, he’s teamed up with one of the best writers currently working, co-writing the screenplay with Gone Girl’s Gillian Flynn.
The film boasts a prestigious cast: Viola Davis, Michelle Rodriguez, Elizabeth Debicki, Cynthia Erivo, Colin Farrell, Brian Tyree Henry, Daniel Kaluuya, Jacki Weaver, Carrie Coon, Robert Duvall, and Liam Neeson.
