Meanwhile, Gilmore Girls creator Amy Sherman-Palladino’s new show The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel capitalized on its winning word of mouth by getting a nomination for Best Comedy, with star Rachel Brosnahan also getting recognized for her work.
The biggest surprise entries in this year’s comedy categories came courtesy of Showtime’s SMILF and Amazon’s The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
SMILF, which was already renewed for Season 2, landed the nom for Best Comedy, with creator and star Frankie Shaw also getting nominated as Best Actress.
Comedy’s Best Actress race is possibly the strongest its been in years, and is all the more unpredictable without Julia Louis-Dreyfus involved.
