Wonder Woman has officially become the highest-grossing superhero origin movie at the domestic box office.
Wonder Woman passed $400 million at the domestic box office earlier this month (becoming the only summer movie to do so), and it passed $800 million globally this weekend.
According to Box Office Mojo, that number puts Wonder Woman just past Sam Raimi’s original Spider-Man film ($403.7 million), starring Tobey Maguire, thus making Wonder Woman the highest-grossing superhero origin story ever released.
Furthermore, since Wonder Woman has broken past the $800 million mark globally, it remains in second place for the superhero origin record at the worldwide box office, which Spider-Man still holds at $821 million.
