Kinberg is already known to be heavily involved with X-Men: Dark Phoenix as a writer.
Fox has revealed Simon Kinberg, longtime writer in the X-Men film franchise, will make his directorial debut by helming X-Men: Dark Phoenix, with the principal stars of the X-Men: First Class trilogy returning to their roles.
Kinberg also wrote the two most recent films in the main series of X-Men movies, X-Men: Days of the Future Past and Apocalypse.
