Popular Japanese manga Attack on Titan will be adapted into a new live-action film by Warner Bros. Variety reports that It director Andy Muschietti has been tapped for the film, with the Harry Potter franchise’s David Heyman producing the film alongside Masi Oka and Andy’s sister, Barbara Muschietti.
The series has already been adapted into a live-action film in Japan, released in 2015 in two parts, earning a total of $46m at the box office.
The director is currently in production on a sequel titled It: Chapter 2 starring Jessica Chastain, James McAvoy, Bill Hader and Isaiah Mustafa.
The manga has sold 76m copies, making it one of the best-selling manga series, while an anime adaptation has received widespread critical acclaim.
