Speaking at the Goldman Sachs Communacopia, The Walt Disney Company CEO Bob Iger spoke about the future of the Star Wars films and teased plans for what is beyond the current-announced slate.
Currently, the Star Wars release schedule includes Rogue One: A Star Wars Story on December 16 of this year, with Star Wars: Episode VIII set for December 15, 2017, the Han Solo spin-off in 2018, and Star Wars: Episode IX in 2019.
The mystery film for 2020 will be another standalone movie in the Star Wars universe, for which Iger also confirmed they recently hired a writer.
“We have movies in development for Star Wars ’til then, and we started talking about what we’re going to do in 2021 and beyond.”
