Screenwriter James Ivory, who won an Oscar for writing the film, took a great sense of pride in Call Me By Your Name, as Ivory himself is gay.
However, since male nudity is not nearly as common as female nudity, the director and studio didn’t feel the need to fight in the case of Call Me By Your Name and compromised one of the most intimate moments from the script.
