More and more series are being produced with in-house studios, so as to limit licensing fees and control distribution, though CBS at least ordered its Big Bang Theory prequel Young Sheldon from Warner Bros. TV. 2 Broke Girls first debuted in 2011 to fairly dismal reviews, but nonetheless averaged 7 million total viewers in its sixth season.
As with a great many other cancellations this season, CBS apparently declined to renew the series over its lack of ownership.
So it is, that we eulogize CBS’ 2 Broke Girls, which endured an impressive six seasons, but won’t return for a seventh.
CBS dropped the news late Friday night, while The Hollywood Reporter claims Warner Bros. TV had attempted to negotiate for a thirteen-episode final run for the Kat Dennings-Beth Behrs comedy.
