Among the people shown to be, the film’s villain and a fellow described as a “man of ideas” by Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson (Sinister) and MCU head architect, Kevin Feige.
That was certainly the case with the IMAX preview recently-unveiled by Marvel Studios for Doctor Strange, complete with extra helpings of Inception-style imagery of sky-scraping buildings being folded over on themselves and Stephen Strange himself (Benedict Cumberbatch) mastering the art of spell-wielding.
This movie no doubt still has its fair share of secrets to reveal, but at this stage Marvel’s marketing strategy is started to shift; from teasing what new doors in the MCU Doctor Strange will open to promoting the film as being a must-see experience in theaters, with its trippy visuals of sorcerers manipulating dimensions and reality itself.
If the Scott Derrickson-directed film is all about Mr. Strange learning to see beyond his arrogance and limited worldview in order to recognize the many realities outside our everyday one, the film’s new IMAX poster takes the concept that Strange will be expanding his mind in the movie somewhat literally.
