The Channel 4 series, which streams internationally via Netflix, was set to begin production in April at the iconic tent in Welford Park in Newbury, but in looking to ensure the safety of its hosts, presenters, bakers and crew members.
“We continue to monitor the situation and follow the advice of Public Health England and we will delay filming on Bake Off until it is safe to proceed,” a Love Productions spokeswoman said in a statement.
The Sky-owned production will see Matt Lucas (Bridesmaids, Little Britain) take over presenting duties from Sandi Toksvig, with the 46-year-old comic recently telling BBC Radio 2 that he suspected production would only be “a bit delayed,” expecting it to resume within a few weeks rather than a few months.
