Such is their popularity that a 2012 music video called Hot Cheetos & Takis, produced by children in Minnesota, has racked up more than 16m views.
Hot Cheetos were invented by Richard Montañez, the son of migrant farm workers, while working as a janitor at a Frito-Lay factory in California.
