In comparison, $100 million would be a little lower for Thor: Ragnarok, but still higher than Thor and Thor: The Dark World, which brought in $65 million and $85 million respectfully.
There have been several fairly slow weeks at the movies in recent months, and the last more than $100 million winner was IT, which roared into theaters with $124 million during its first weekend.
Even if the flick falls shy of $100 million, the money the Marvel film brings in will be good for the Disney-owned company, but also the theaters that need major attendance to rake in money.
