Barbara Rush, the female lead of 1950s sci-fi horror It Came from Outer Space, has died aged 97.
Two years later she appeared in It Came from Outer Space, another now-cult product of the 1950s sci-fi cycle inspired by fears of nuclear armageddon and communist invasion.

Born in Denver in 1927, Rush grew up in Los Angeles and, after studying theatre at the University of California, Santa Barbara, was signed to Paramount Pictures.
