Hopefully, this letter moves Congress to some sort of action to save the theatrical experience from vanishing altogether.
As you consider forthcoming COVID-19 relief legislation, we ask you to prioritize assistance for the hardest-hit industries, like our country’s beloved movie theaters.
As such, a number of high profile filmmakers, including James Cameron, Christopher Nolan, Clint Eastwood, Zack Snyder, Steven Soderbergh, Martin Scorsese, M. Night Shyamalan and Edgar Wright (among many others) have reached out and called on Congress to reallocate funds from the CARES Act proposals to movie theaters in order to keep them alive.
Please fight for our country’s beloved and essential cinemas by including relief for them in anyforthcoming COVID-19 legislation.
