New reports suggest Lin-Manuel Miranda is in talks for a key role, along with Logan star Dafne Keen.
Per Entertainment Weekly, Miranda is in talks to portray balloonist adventurer Lee Scoresby in the eight-part adaptation, which covers the Materials of Pullman’s novels The Golden Compass, The Subtle Knife and The Amber Spyglass.
New Line ultimately abandoned plans for a Golden Compass sequel, believing the effort a failure replicate the success of The Lord of the Rings.
New Line Cinema and production company Bad Wolf first announced the adaptation in 2015, and Oscar-winner Tom Hooper has been circling the project to direct.
